DESIGN TRUST: CRITICALLY HOMEMADE ACROSS 18 LOCATIONS IN 8 DISTRICTS THROUGHOUT HONG KONG IN CITY- AND ISLAND-WIDE EXHIBITION

Following the initial DESIGN TRUST: Critically Homemade prototype exhibition in September, the DESIGN TRUST: Critically Homemade Winter Showcase presents 39 selected designs to the broader community in a dynamic and diverse city- and island-wide exhibition across 18 locations in 8 districts as well as online - providing the public with different opportunities and options to experience the initiative from now until early 2021.In addition to being featured at individual Design Trust Champions throughout the city, the Citywide Exhibition features a number of special activations that bring the Winter Showcase across different iterations to different parts of the city.

Mini keynote sharing ‘In memory of Enzo Mari’ by Hans Ulrich Obrist, Artistic Director of Serpentine Galleries, is available online here

The sharing was a tribute to the late designer, critic and theorists, and a manifesto for the democratisation of arts and culture. Highlighting Mari’s vision and influence on design, Obrist also shared his lasting legacy through the works of Formafantasma and his contribution to the environmental conversation on design. The mini-keynote was followed by a short and provocative conversation with Zoë Ryan, Director of the Institute of Contemporary Art, University of Pennsylvania and Aric Chen, Curatorial Director, Design Miami, moderated by Marisa Yiu, Co-founder/ Executive Director, Design Trust and generously co-hosted by Dr. Adrian Cheng.

In collaboration with our international media partner and renowned design platform Dezeen, a live-streamed design dialogue will feature a selection of our initiative’s participating designers. The discussion will be moderated by our Lead Curator, Marisa Yiu (Co-Founder / Executive Director of Design Trust) and Aric Chen (Curatorial Director of Design Miami Fair and an advisor on Design Trust’s Greater Bay Area Design Council).

In celebration of creative processes, making and makers, DESIGN TRUST: Critically Homemade designers will be participating in Create Day, a twenty-four hour digital programme of designer processes, makers and their work launched by London Craft Week.
