The Ambassadors’ Ball 2016 will take place on Friday, 4 November 2016 at PMQ, 35 Aberdeen Street, Hong Kong. Net proceeds from this annual fundraising evening will benefit Design Trust, a platform that supports and stimulates the positive process of design though project based grants, creative sharing to engage communities in Hong Kong, the Greater Pearl River Delta Region and internationally.

The establishment of the Design Trust initiative in 2014, has positively impacted the design community in support to scholars, design researchers and practitioners. Although still a small organisation, this grant initiative hopes to build on its past achievements to make a larger impact here in Hong Kong and the region. In providing fellowships with partnering overseas and local institutions, grant recipients expand their portfolios, in the field of research, skills building or practice. In addition, Design Trust aims to actively accelerate the development of meaningful projects that advocate the positive role of design. Design disciplines include graphics, wearable technologies, product design, architecture to the environment.

The annual Ambassadors’ Ball brings together passionate individuals and organisations, united by the desire to celebrate and promote Hong Kong’s rich community of creativity and design. As in past years, with our live and silent auctions, guests may expect some exceptional and limited edition works of art, furniture and décor items from some of the most celebrated names in the local and international art and design circles.

Appointed as Creative Director for this year’s Ball is Stickyline, a young emerging Hong Kong based studio. Co-founded by Soilworm Lai and Mic Leong, they specialize in paper crafting with eco-friendly and surprising outcomes and will be lending their unique design approaches to the celebratory event.

This annual benefit is a hallmark of this vibrant city’s societal calendar and benefits from the generous patronage of a guest list composed of the city’s elite movers & shakers, captains of industries, design industry influencers and stakeholders, art connoisseurs, creative talents, collectors and society icons. At the last installment of The Ambassadors’ Ball in 2015, graced by Mrs Carrie Lam, Chief Secretary for the Hong Kong SAR, over HK$ 6 million was raised.
