2016 Design Trust Grant Recipient, Clara Cheung, along with other young architecture students are collectively presenting, Re:placed, a playful, interactive landscape for the "Walk DVRC" initiative on 25 September 2016.
An architectural intervention in collaboration with HKU Department of Architecture, mobile modules of fractal green urban landscape emerge from the earth to create a visual, tactile and interactive experience for the Des Voeux Road Central (DVRC) initiative.
The area will serve as an open space that allows visitors to move around its modular components as they wish. Recognising that 'Walk DVRC' urgently needs to be linked on-the-ground design experiments, the intervention was deployed to examine the opportunities made available by re-imagining the public realm on Des Voeux Road in Central Hong Kong as a cultural landscape, where architecture can become a site for collective action, cultural advocacy and the celebration of shared ownership in this city. It will serve as a catalyst that opens the Des Voeux Road pedestrian environment and demonstrate the possibilities available to be enjoyed by visitors.
Re:Placed is generously supported by a grant from the Hong Kong Design Trust.
Very DVRC will run from 10am to 4pm on 25 September 2016 (Sunday).
