Design Trust Futures Studio (DTFS) is pleased to present “Play is for the People”, an exhibition reflecting on the creative processes and collective design for four distinct locations across Hong Kong. As an extension of last year’s inaugural Design Trust Futures Studio, the 2018 theme tackles and promotes the ideas of innovation, leisure and play, which creates meaning from the people, for the people with human factors, ergonomics and physical designs in play. Four practical yet playful micro-parks will be realized in four different locations around Hong Kong. Design Trust Futures Studio vision is to make visible the invisible process of design. The creative process and development of the Mentor and Design-mentees’ projects and their involvement in the processes with local districts and prototypes will be presented.
Working closely with the local communities and other stakeholders from both private and public sectors, the design teams translated their findings from site research and analysis, as well as various public engagement sessions into four unique concepts for small sites in Hong Kong.
On view at a new storefront venue in Sai Ying Pun from 17th to 29th of January 2019, the design teams will be sharing the outcomes of the critical design phase, as well as 1:1 prototypes and scaled models for the public to envision the future micro-parks and design concepts. There will also be a series of public programmes, talks and workshops during the exhibition period. Please check back at https://designtrust.hk/design-trust-futures-studio/ .
