Design Trust Fridays exhibition “From Smallness, Playfulness to Community Impact: Design Trust Futures Studio Micro-parks Exhibition” opens to the public by appointment from Friday December 1st 2023 on designated Fridays until end of March 2024. Expanding upon the recently launched micro-park publication, the exhibition features extensive documentation of Design Trust Futures Studio 2017 “Small is Meaningful” and Design Trust Futures Studio 2018 “Play is for the People” programmes and the subsequent construction process of the four built micro-parks and ongoing activation in 2023. Through models, drawings, material prototypes and photographs, the exhibition presents the complexity and challenges of more than five years of creative collaboration with public and private agencies as well as community partners. As an anchor of the exhibition, the “Collective Creative Manifesto'' highlights ten recommendations for future public and private community partnerships in the region inspired by the creative process, prototype and policy transformation.

The exhibition unfolds more than five years’ creative collaboration through the flagship programme Design Trust Futures Studio conceptualised and lead curated by Marisa Yiu, revealing the the design process of four design teams: Yi Pei Square Playground team of Stephen Ip, Kay Chan, Christopher Choi and Jonathan Mak mentored by Mimi Hoang; Portland Street Rest Garden team of Ricky Lai, Xavier Tsang, Wendy Wu and Kam Fai Hung mentored by Sam Jacob; Sitting-out Area under Flyover in Hill Road team of Aron Tsang, Andy Cheng, Zoey Chan and Jose Fu mentored by Gary Chang; and Hamilton Street Rest Garden team of Sylvia Chan, Vivian Ng, Samuel Wong, Elaine Tsui, and Owen Chim mentored by Stanley Wong in 2018, as well as a comprehensive documentation of the construction and implementation process of the four micro-parks and Design Trust team’s continuous observation and activation of the built parks in 2023.
