NEW UPDATE! Design Trust is pleased to announce the Design Trust Benefit Party 2025  "The Art of Transformation" 9:30pm to 11:30pm on Saturday March 22nd 2025, to fundraise for ongoing grants, fellowship and public programmes of DESIGN TRUST. The relaxing evening party will be a fundraising ticketed-only event to unveil feature Installations by Joyce Wang Studio, We+, Editecture, A.A.Murakami, Island Lights, Chaklam Ng, Niko Leung and Wang Xin; culinary surprise by May Chow, and Special Performances with Tap Chan, Joya and Mengzy at the coastal ocean site.

 

After the preview and Benefit Party, Design Trust Futures Festival 2025 will be officially launched on March 29th to June 18th 2025 involving 60 designers, artists and architects to create light-weight site specific works and research programmes to the historic site of the Murray House at Stanley Plaza within a natural and coastal context of Stanley district. DESIGN TRUST FUTURES FESTIVAL 2025: “The Art of Transformation” is a new micro festival where Design Trust researchers, scholars, global partners to innovative designers, participate in and share further their ongoing work. Small scale site-specific works around themes of “Exceptional Transformations” are created in relationship to the context of the historic site Murray House at Stanley Plaza, a 3-storey Victorian style building with architectural significance from 19th Century Hong Kong, and today invites further study and exploration within the inspirational environment on the coastal seaside.

“‘The Art of Transformation’ represents a pivotal moment in Design Trust’s journey,” said Marisa Yiu, Co-Founder and Lead Curator of Design Trust. “We are not just celebrating creativity – but also elevating positive values of how design, nature and art, can transform spaces, communities, and perspectives. This initiative embodies our commitment to fostering resilience and innovation in Hong Kong and Greater Bay Area region’s creative ecosystem within an international context.”

 

Crafted in dialogue with Lead Curator Marisa Yiu, artists and architects over the past months, create and donate a unique art work, specific to their artistic practice, responding to the site and theme of “The Art of Transformation”. These new works or expanded works, relate to the historic Murray House, Stanley environment, Hong Kong city and public spaces, where the cultural community have been in constant transformation to craft works in dialogue with material translation and the nature. The works are generously donated by artists, designers, galleries to support the ongoing research and granting programmes of the registered charity Design Trust of the Hong Kong Ambassadors of Design that was founded in 2007. Participating artists and designers include: William Lim, Daphne Mandel, Ant Winglam Ngai, Stephen Chun Hei Wong, Yang Danful, Eddie Lui, Gary Chang, Hou Jianan, Peep, Cynthia Mak, Judy Gee, Dominique Fung, Ryo Matsuoka, Frank Tang, Austin Bell, Toshiya Hayashi & Hokuto Ando of We+, Paribawga and Yuyang Wang, Winnie Mak, Joseph Munyao Mutuku, Andi Fischer. Design Trust Charity Exhibition 2025: “Transformational Exceptions” will be open to the public viewing, from March 29th to June 18th,  after the fundraising event, as part of Design Trust Futures Festival 2025.

 

All the fundraising proceeds will go towards on-going education, design development projects, regional design research programme and research grants for the DESIGN TRUST initiative. The live auction will be available online from Monday, 3rd March 2025 to 3pm HKT on Friday, 21st March 2025, and continue in person on Saturday, 22nd March 2025 during the evening of Design Trust Charity Benefit 2025-an invite only private event. Online bids for live auction items will be close at 3pm HKT on 21st March 2025. Silent Auction will continue until 11pm HKT on Saturday, 22nd March 2025 (Design Trust reserves the right to change the closing time).
