ZINE YO! Fest is a vibrant month-long celebration of DIY publishing, experimental print art, and zine culture, organised by zine publishers’ collective ZINE COOP, serving as Hong Kong’s creative nexus while connecting communities across the Greater Bay Area and East/Southeast Asia.

The 2025 edition features a zine market with local and international exhibitors, a curated exhibition of zines from regional creators, with hands-on workshops in risograph, bookbinding, and zine-making. The program includes panel discussions with practicing zinemakers and an innovative virtual zine party that bridges global creators in a digital fair.

More than an event, ZINE YO! Fest amplifies marginalized voices and alternative narratives by supporting emerging collectives, independent creators, and artist-run publishing initiatives. We nurture community-driven cultural projects and experimental approaches to print media, creating an ecosystem that redefines regional publishing. Bridging established and first-time creators, we aim to cultivate new possibilities for publishing culture across Asia’s creative landscape.

Grantee: Forrest Lau

Zine maker, book and magazine layout designer, and visual graphic designer with 15 years of experience. In 2017, co-founded the organization ‘ZINECOOP’ with independent publisher Beatrix Pang to promote Hong Kong’s zine culture, connecting local zine authors and readers through an online platform. Participated in local and overseas art book fairs, and attempted to print and publish ‘ZINECOOP PAPER’ to broaden public awareness of zines and promote their development.

In 2014, Forrest founded ‘薄簿仔’ (now in its 13th issue), collaborating with various artists and designers to print and publish zines using Risograph technology. Subsequent zine publications include ‘Zinema’ (now in its 12th issue), ‘MUSIC ZINE’, and ‘Peng Chau Street Gate’, among others. After living in Southeast Asia for five months — learning about minimalism and herbalism, and exploring a digital nomadic lifestyle — Forrest teamed up with Virgina Liu to found Wild Side Press in 2024 to produce publications about symbiosis in nature, local subcultures and urban exploration.
