West Point Neighborhood Lab

In the city of Hong Kong, where private living space is at a minimum and public space is far from meeting basic standards, opportunities for expression of the human dimension are scarce.

In the city of Hong Kong, where private living space is at a minimum and public space is far from meeting basic standards, opportunities for expression of the human dimension are scarce.

In 2020, with the intent of helping the community, Massimiliano Dappero developed an urban (strategy framework) – one or the other to provide more public space in the district of Sai Wan, transforming 2km of sidewalks and neglected areas into a linear urban park that would reconnect the district to its waterfront.

The West Point Neighborhood Lab is a community initiative, to further develop the West Point Street Line vision plan. The main objective is to investigate the micro-dynamics of the neighborhood, in order to understand its values and needs and translate them into a guidelines toolkit, that will transcend to ideas for pilot projects, to support the West Point Street Line and be a template for future public space projects in Sai Wan district.

The Neighborhood Lab program includes a series of research workshops with students and professionals, engagement activities with the community and dialogue with the different stakeholders of the district.
