“Pixelated Histories [Part II]: Exploring The Hidden Stories from Islands in Hong Kong” is a comprehensive social experiential project aimed at engaging the entire community of Hong Kong in dialogue and action towards the sustainable development of the outlying islands. Through a series of interactive activities including zine-making workshops, sharings and talks, as well as island guided tours, the programme invites participants from all walks of life to explore the unique cultural heritage, environmental significance, and socio- economic dynamics alongside the exhibition about the islands. By fostering dialogue and collaboration, “Pixelated Histories [Part II]” seeks to raise awareness and appreciation for the outlying islands among the general public in Hong Kong while promoting sustainable development practices and community empowerment, aiming to inspire collective action and foster a sense of ownership and responsibility for the future of these precious island communities.

With a passion for exploring the social intersections between cultural dynamics and the built environment, two architects Leroy Cheng and Vanessa Ma, who completed their master's degrees in Architecture at The University of Hong Kong, have collaborated for years in the architectural domain across diverse cultural landscapes. Their recent endeavours have garnered recognition from UIA World Congress of Architects CPH 2023 and research funding from The Hong Kong Institute of Architects.
