The Coastal Colonade pays tribute to the sandy shoreline and bayside landscape that once stretched to Murray House and Stanley Main Street. This project embodies transformation and renewal, mirroring the monument’s journey, relocated, repurposed, and now activated by Design Trust. Joyce Wang Studio envisions a series of glass pillars framing a triptych of prominent portals iconic to the Murray Building facade. A pair of textured cast glass pillars flank each portal, their surfaces cast with an array of textures. Bathed in ambient light, the installation comes alive in the evening with dancing reflections, echoing the ethereal patterns of the tides. Beyond aesthetics, this work fosters environmental, social, and cultural regeneration, offering a uniquely immersive experience. Joyce Wang Studio is honoured to contribute to this creative curation, breathing new life into this historic grand dame.

About Joyce Wang

Born in Hawaii and raised in Hong Kong and London, Joyce Wang studied Architecture and Materials Science at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) followed by a Master’s degree in Interior Design from London’s Royal College of Art. Fueled by her love of physics, film and drawing, Wang embarked on a journey into architecture, then on to interior design while at Foster + Partners. She established her eponymous studio in 2011. Across an acclaimed global portfolio of unique fine-dining and luxury hospitality spaces, Wang infuses artisanal elegance with enigmatic rigour and willfully circumvents style signatures. Taking cues from both cinema and science, she aims to conjure an emotive and sensorial resonance with each interior environment.
