Sky and Shade

2023
H 40 x W 50 cm (Framed)
Acrylic on canvas

In this artwork, Dony Cheng returns to a recurring element in her practice—the empty horizon. In contrast to the density of the city, this meditative landscape opens onto a world of suspended time, poised at the edge of the world. Painted with airbrushed acrylic on canvas, the surface forms a smooth gradient reminiscent of the sky. The black area is rendered in Musou Black, a light-absorbing pigment that interrupts visual perception and evokes a moment of pause in the act of viewing.
