Responding to the Design Trust Charity Exhibition 2026’s curatorial focus on the Central’s architecture landscape, the selection of the three photographs, highlight the St.John’s Building, where the exhibition is sited, the Hong Kong Club and the Hong Kong City Hall, from Walter Koditek’s publication “Hong Kong Modern Architecture of the 1950s-1970s”, supported by the Design Trust Seed Grant. The research publication gives a comprehensive overview on the architecture of that period in combining full-page photographs with detailed background information, illustrating the design and history of these buildings.
About Walter Koditek
Walter Koditek is a German urban planner, author and photographer based in Hong Kong. After graduating at Technical University Berlin, Walter’s first professional life had him practicing for almost two decades at various planning/design consultancies and teaching at university. He moved to Hong Kong in 2014, basing his consultant work here. He published the photobook Battambang Heritage and co-authored the Architectural Guide Phnom Penh. Walter Koditek was a Design Trust Seed Grantee in 2021.
