Premonition X, 2025
2025
H 48 x W 32 x D 3 cm (framed)
Oil on paper
Xie Lei chooses painting through personal conviction, as it opens up a pathway towards a language capable of expressing his sensory universe and a field of experimentation that allows him to delve into the specificity of this medium in the contemporary world. His work dwells on the complexity of events and situations, and above all, their ambiguity and the tensions they foster. Premonition X features a head with an open mouth and closed eyes. The vertical brushstrokes make it seems as if it is falling yet simultaneously floating, which is heightened further by the intense blue tones.
