Manfred Yuen, founder of Groundwork in London, Hong Kong, and Shenzhen, is an architect trained at the University of Hong Kong and Cambridge. He previously worked with Coop Himmelb(l)au in Vienna, managing their China operations.
GROUNDWORK integrates social research with design innovation, executing projects such as Hong Kong's culture-preserving ""Hawker Stalls"" and governmental play-space guidelines. Their portfolio includes architecture, exhibitions, and urban interventions worldwide.
Yuen has received numerous accolades, including being named one of “40-under-40 Design Talents” in Asia (2011), “The Next Generation Architects” in Italy (2010), and “40 under 40 Emerging Chinese Architects” (2019). He is also a recipient of the Spirit of Hong Kong Award (2013) and has been invited to deliver TEDx talks in Shenzhen in 2019 and 2025.
