Design Trust Feature Grant exhibition “Knowing the Unknown - Brutalism Architecture Archive, Hong Kong”

Design Trust Feature Grant recipient Bob Pang’s “Unknown Brutalism Architecture in Hong Kong” publication launched at the Hong Kong Book Fair 2023 and research exhibition “Knowing the Unknown - Brutalism Architecture Archive, Hong Kong” in August. The exhibition focuses on first-person perspectives from the past, travelling back to the architectural context of 1960s and 1970s, allowing the public to observe closely how predecessors built these projects based on archival data and interviews.

Design Trust Feature Grant recipient ISLANDERS島民 “Inter-island Festival 2023”

Design Trust is pleased to announce the upcoming Inter-island Festival 2023, a bi-annual festival dedicated to the inter-island ferry and the outer islands. The festival connects the outer islands of Peng Chau, Cheung Chau and Lantau Island’s Mui Wo and Chi Ma Wan, as well as the inter-island sea. Scheduled for four weekends from November 4th to 26th, the festival hopes to foster connections and exchange between the natural islands and the communities around.

Design Trust is pleased to announce the upcoming launch of Design Trust Futures Studio Micro-Parks Publication. With the completion of four micro-parks Yi Pei Square Playground, Portland Street Rest Garden, Sitting-out Area under Flyover in Hill Road and Hamilton Street Rest Garden, the forthcoming publication provides an extensive review of Design Trust Futures Studio 2017 “Small is Meaningful” and Design Trust Futures Studio 2018 “Play is for the People” programmes and the subsequent construction process, as well as documentation of the built parks, ongoing research survey and insightful reflections from the public, private and communities on the future of public space in Hong Kong.

Design Trust Fridays: Inaugural Showcase will open to the public by appointment from 29th September 2023. The Inaugural Showcase presents snapshot of key moments of time that brings together the regional and international design community together through Design Trust’s grants and community platform. Curated in a visual archive format, more than 40 grant projects and Design Trust Futures Studios works are presented. Public can now can register online for visit to the showcase weekly on Fridays.

Design Trust Decade 2024 Charity Auction scheduled for Friday, March 22nd, 2024

Scheduled for Friday, March 22nd, 2024, Design Trust Decade Charity Auction 2024 celebrates the 10th Anniversary of Design Trust and the founding of the charity Hong Kong Ambassadors of Design since 2007. The annual fund-raising auction and event will feature exceptional and limited-edition pieces of art, furniture and decorative items as well as exclusive experiences. All the fundraising proceeds will go towards education, community micro-parks, design development projects in the Greater Bay Area region, and research grants for the DESIGN TRUST initiative.
