Design Trust Futures Studio 2022: “Heritage is Creative Generation” builds upon the spirit of Design Trust Futures Studio 2019 “Heritage is Innovation”. This edition will delve into our rich heritage through crafting new dialogues around tradition and contemporary modes of cultural production. Launched with new collaborative partners, esteemed mentors and mentees involved, the new edition simultaneously challenges complex notions of inheriting and innovating to explore new synergies through experimentation. |

Since the establishment of the M+ / Design Trust Research Fellowship in 2015, this sharing will be the first time our fellows will gather at the M+ Museum for this momentous occasion. |

Design Trust Grant Recipient | “Breaching Sanctum” exhibition featured
Design Trust Feature Grant “Breaching Sanctum” is an exhibition of existing and newly commissioned art and design works alongside research materials, public programmes, and a publication in the form of a “reader”. The project delves into the work of a generation of Chinese female artists, designers, and architects born in the 1980s—on the cusp of the 1990s—and the influence of that era alongside current developments, innovations, and pressures connected to urbanism, sustainability, and the built environment, on their work. |

Design Trust Grant Recipient | “BRUTAL! – Unknown Brutalism Architecture in Hong Kong” won the HKIA Annual Awards 2021
Design Trust Seed Grant research and exhibition “BRUTAL! - Unknown Brutalism Architecture in Hong Kong” led by Bob Pang winning the Special Architectural Award - Curation & Exhibition Design of HKIA Annual Awards 2021. This research and exhibition of Brutalist Architecture in Hong Kong has marked a kick-off milestone for the conservation discourse of post-war architectural heritage in the city. It sheds new light and insight, using a refreshing approach in presenting architectural history to reach a popular public interest. |

Design Trust Grant Recipient | Liquid Home exhibition featured
Design Trust Seed Grant project “Liquid Homes: Living, Building, and other Stories from Hong Kong Fishing Villages”, the exhibition “To Float in a World too Heavy” opened at PMQ Hong Kong. Inspired by the fluid state of living in the fishing villages along South China coastline, Liquid Homes draws on the format of “floating exhibition” in collaboration with emerging designers and curatorial practices across the region, presenting stories, research and historic re-reading of alternative living in Hong Kong. |

Ongoing process on Design Trust Futures Studio micro-parks programme for Hamilton Street Rest Garden
With the parks reopening in Hong Kong since April 2022, the design team of Design Trust Futures Studio micro-parks programme for Hamilton Street Rest Garden, continues their efforts in turning the design into reality and making the park as a focal point in the community that celebrates the neighbourhood’s culture of manufacturing and craftsmanship. In order to understand the unique techniques of making in the neighbourhood, the team has been collaborating with makers from local shops to design elements of the park. |
