Message From Executive Director | Our Response to Covid-19, Community Survey and Findings



Design Trust survey was shared with our community in response to COVID-19.

Design Trust is committed to grow with our community’s needs. 2020 has been a critical time to reflect, review, and respond. In view of the latest development of the COVID-19 pandemic, we have reached out to our community and asked for feedback so we can develop strategies moving forward and help each other as a community.

Design Trust Charity Auction in partnership with Phillips

We are delighted to announce that we will be partnering with Phillips Hong Kong to offer a special curated selection as part of their 20th Century & Contemporary Art & Design Hong Kong Day Sale. The fundraising auction is part of our efforts this year to raise funds for our Grant programmes. This unique section will feature fourteen works generously donated by the design and cultural community.

Design Trust: Critically Homemade Micro-Initiative Launches to revive creative collaboration in Hong Kong and beyond



A micro-initiative to inspire creative collaboration in a time of physical distancing.

“DESIGN TRUST: Critically Homemade”, a micro-initiative curated by Marisa Yiu (Co-Founder / Executive Director of Design Trust), is part of an effort to draw solutions from the pandemic’s impact on Hong Kong’s design community and beyond, and to inspire creative collaboration in a time of physical distancing.

M+ / Design Trust Research Fellowship 2021 Opens for Application



The deadline for submitting the application is 16 August 2020.

The M+ / Design Trust Research Fellowship 2021 will support two separate fellowship projects. The first fellowship will support a Hong Kong–based researcher engaged in investigating topics related to design and/or architectural developments in Hong Kong and its vicinity. The second fellowship will support a researcher engaged in investigating topics related to design and/or architectural developments in a particular geography in Asia, or across the continent. The deadline for submitting the application is 16 August 2020.

Design Trust 2020 July Grant Application is now open. Share with us your ideas and proposals with us by 20 July 2020. Design Trust offers grants to designers, curators, collectives and non-profit organisations for project proposals that are relevant to the context and content of Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area region. Grant recipients from the April 2020 cycle include Yip Kai Chun, Liz Lau, Zheng Qiu, Maggie Chan Tsz Wai, Florian Wegenast and Christine Lew, Enrique Moya-Angeler, Nicole Andrianjaka de Surville, Toby Lam, and Bob Pang. Applications for next grant cycle will close on 20 July 2020.

Announcement of our 2020 Design Trust Milestone Portfolio



Design Trust Milestone Portfolio will be launched in July 2020.

Since 2014, DESIGN TRUST has supported over 125 grantees and fellows to date and we are pleased to launch our 2020 Design Trust Milestone Portfolio in July 2020, documenting past achievements and our grantees’ impactful works. In the lead up to the launch, this quarter we look back on the innovative works by our Feature Grantees and Seed Grantees that focus on bringing about positive change in communities through addressing the topics of well-being and improving shared spaces.

Design Trust was featured on Wallpaper’s The World View series.

Design Trust is grateful for the continued support we receive from the community and being able to share our vision with the industry and the public. Design Trust recently shared views on how Hong Kong’s creative community is adapting to the pandemic as part of Wallpaper’s The World View series, as well as sharing on the topic of “Heritage Spaces, Contemporary Programmes” at a recent virtual panel organised by Art Power.
