LETTER FROM EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR | Continuing our Collective Cultivation of the Positive Impact of Design

2020 is a special year where we reflect on the past to grow stronger in the future. We continue to inspire, transform and grow with our community of over one hundred design mentee and teams, and projects impacting the larger public and communities in Hong Kong and beyond. During this special 2020 milestone year, we also deeply thank our board Chairman Mr. Alan Lo for his dedicated chairmanship for the past decade, and soon welcome a new Chairman Mr. Kamsen Lau.

“Countryside, The Future” Opens at Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum

Design Trust is pleased to share the opening of Countryside, the Future at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum. On view for six months, Countryside, The Future is an exhibition that addresses urgent environmental, political, and socioeconomic issues through the lens of architect and urbanist Rem Koolhaas and Samir Bantal, Director of AMO, the think tank of the Office for Metropolitan Architecture (OMA). The exhibition is partly supported by Design Trust’s Feature Grant programme.

Cao Fei “Blueprints” Opens at Serpentine Galleries, London

Design Trust is proud to support Cao Fei’s exhibition “Blueprints” at London’s Serpentine Galleries, marking the Beijing-based artist and filmmaker’s first large-scale institutional solo exhibition in the UK. Supported by a Design Trust’s Feature Grant, “Blueprints” brings together new and existing works in an immersive, site-specific installation, expanding the themes of automation, virtuality and technology that Cao Fei continuously draws upon. The exhibition is free to the public and will be on view through 17 May 2020.

Design Trust is proud to share the innovative work by our Feature Grant and Seed Grant Grantees. Call for Applicants | 2020 Design Trust / RCA Fellowship

Applications are invited for the 2020 Design Trust / RCA Fellowship in Design Curation. Extensively supported by Design Trust, this is a six-month to one-year opportunity for research, learning and engagement at the Royal College of Art in London. Fellows are given the opportunity to immerse themselves in the unique learning environment of Royal College of Art -- one of the world’s most influential institutions in Art and Design -- and take advantage of the experience of student life in the city of London.
