Design Trust Exhibition 2026 – The Art of Movement

The Art of Movement

“The Art of Movement” explores design within the dynamics of city life, urbanism and promotes walking, exploring, and being inspired by the cityscape and natural topography of the iconic Victoria Peak and urbanism of Hong Kong and a long-term research commitment on the architectural legacies of Central’s architecture of the 1980s as a starting point of discovery. Our vision is to sustain, transform and grow the non-profit organization Design Trust’s innovative platform as a public place learning lab, where the city and nature of Hong Kong is an outdoor museum, that integrates heritage, sustainability initiatives and Design Innovation to benefit the larger community in diverse, inclusive and dynamic ways.

With the powerful transformation of The Peak Tramway’s 6th edition innovation, as an anchoring point to link this year’s show,  the remarkable and timeless uniqueness of the HSBC Main Building designed by Lord Norman Foster, that will be 40 years old this April 2026, that officially opened on 7th of April 1986, is seminal to this journey, where architectural heritage narratives of Central district building’s innovation and placemaking come alive. From City Hall, the Statue Square, St. Johns Building to The Peak Tower – these architectural gems are inspirational, moving and uplift narratives and oral histories, stemming from creative forces at play, hidden stories to architectural details. This exhibition and public programme restore our belief in how great architecture, creative public space making, and the natural topography of Hong Kong can be a shared public asset to further our intergenerational learning and educational platforms for the community to be inspired by. We welcome you to explore together our collective purpose of how design and architecture shape culture, and the culture of architecture and generous patronage shape our city.
