Hong Kong Ambassadors of Design is pleased to announce that the sixth annual Ambassadors’ Ball will be held on Saturday, 8 November 2014 at PMQ, in Central, Hong Kong. Net proceeds from this annual fundraising evening will benefit the Hong Kong Ambassadors of Design and their mission to encourage creative ventures in Hong Kong and to nurture the development of design and innovation throughout the region. In particular, this year, the Ambassadors have launched the Design Trust, a new grant-making platform to actively accelerate the creative design and development of meaningful projects in Hong Kong and the region.
Design Trust aims to provide flexible and responsive funding for creative projects that promote design talent, research initiatives and content related to Hong Kong and the Greater Pearl River Delta Region. Annually, the Trust will provide fellowships with partnering overseas and local institutions such as M+, for designers wishing to expand their portfolios, whether in the field of research, skills building or practice. In addition, grants for creative cultural projects spanning a multiplicity of design disciplines from graphics, media, fashion to the built environment will also be available.
It seems appropriate that with this milestone, the 6th anniversary Ambassadors’ Ball, and the launch of Design Trust, we will be celebrating the best of Hong Kong design from the city’s newest landmark for creative industries, PMQ. This heritage site was formerly the Police Married Quarters.
Lending her special touch to the décor and production design of the event as it’s Creative Director, is critically acclaimed designer Joyce Wang, who is a specialist in luxury hospitality and residential design.
This year’s event will bring together a passionate group of individuals and organizations, united by the desire to celebrate and promote Hong Kong’s rich community of creativity and design. Entitled “Sustaining Time”, this year’s theme brings focus to sustainability and the timeless heritage of design. As in past years, with our live and silent auctions you can expect some exceptional and limited edition works of art, furniture and décor from some of the most celebrated names in international art and design circles, as well as those from several influential Hong Kong designers.
This annual benefit is a hallmark of this vibrant city’s societal calendar and benefits from the generous patronage of a guest list par noneof the city’s elite movers & shakers, captains of industries, design industry influencers and stakeholders, art connoisseurs, creative talents, collectors and society icons.
The Hong Kong Ambassadors of Design began as a small non-profit with big dreams to enlivening our city through cultural experiences. Today we are a well-respected organization that promotes design, creativity and local culture through dynamic, experiential projects and via grants made throughout the year.
