Upcoming: The Ambassadors’ Ball 2018 in benefit of Design Trust
The Ambassadors' Ball, the annual gala fundraising dinner for Design Trust, is proud to have Prada as its Title Sponsor, and to announce a collaboration with Rem Koolhaas and David Gianotten of OMA, who as Creative Directors present an explorative theme for the gala, titled “HYPER ENVIRONMENT”. HYPER ENVIRONMENT examines the ever-changing relationship between the vast non-urban and urban areas on earth. |

Design Trust Futures Studio 2018 | New York Research Trip
Design Trust Futures Studio 2018 travelled to New York for a research tour consisting of a range of studio visits, workshops, field trips, as well as exchanges with New York based institutions, schools and academies. Visits included Diller Scofidio + Renfro studio, nARCHITECTS, The High Line, Pentagram studio, Project for Public Spaces, Storefront for Art and Architecture, as well as various museums and other parks and creative studios. The design teams also presented their micro-park projects under this year’s theme “Play is for the people” at The Architectural League of New York. |

Design Trust Futures Studio 2017 | Shortlisted for the 2018 Beazley Designs of the Year
Design Trust Futures Studio 2017 has been shortlisted for the 2018 Beazley Designs of the Year Award. Design Museum in London presents this annual award to recognise the world’s most innovative design concepts and products. As part of the shortlist of 87 nominees in categories spanning fashion, graphics, architecture, product, digital and transport, Design Trust Futures Studio 2017 is displaying selected works at the Design Museum from 12th September 2018 to 6th January 2019. |

M+/ Design Trust Fellowship | 2018 Recipients Research-In-Progress Presentation
Design Trust joined M+ / Design Trust Research Fellows Hugh Davies’ and Fan Lok Yi & Sampson Wong’s research-in-progress presentation on 1st August 2018 at the M+ headquarters. Hugh Davies’ research explores the history of technology, screen practices, and expansive games. The team of Fan Lok Yi and Sampson Wong investigates “revolutionary playgrounds” during the 1960s and 1970s in Hong Kong, focusing on Shek Lei Playground and its extended context in East Asia. |

Design Trust Grant Recipient Michelle Poon of Dim Sum Labs | Book Launch and Design Dialogue
Design Trust Grant Recipient Michelle Poon (Director, Dim Sum Labs) had her book launch for “The Field Guide To Hacking” on 25th June 2018 at Studio 9. In conjunction with her book launch was Design Dialogue “Perspectives on Open-source & Peer-production”, which addressed the need for collaboration in the online community today, and how peer production and sharing of information lead to more innovation and creativity. |

Design Trust Grant Recipients Brian Kwok & Anneke Coppoolse | Exhibition: DESIGNING THE SPECTACLE – Pre-Digital Graphic Design Practices
Design Trust Grant Recipients Brian Kwok and Anneke Coppoolse (Information Design Lab) recently held an exhibition showcasing their research in the design and craftsmanship of neon lights in Hong Kong. This survey of the design and production of a key part of the city’s visual culture traces the history of Hong Kong’s graphic design in the pre-digital age. The exhibition took place at Hong Kong Polytechnic University School of Design, Jockey Club Innovation Tower from 20th to 30th August 2018. |

New International Advisory Council Member: Tom Dixon
Design Trust is thrilled to welcome Tom Dixon as our new International Advisory Council Member. Tom Dixon (OBE) is a world-renowned British designer and Creative Director of eponymous brand Tom Dixon (est. 2002). His works are included in permanent collections of the world’s most prestigious museums, including the V&A and MoMA. Tom is excited to work with Design Trust in empowering talented designers and research scholars to positively impact our community. |
