Kung Hey Fat Choi! DESIGN TRUST wishes you happiness, good health and lasting prosperity in the Year of the Dog. Thank you for your continuous support and we look forward to another exciting and creative year ahead!
To kick-start the Lunar New Year, we have a range of stimulating and exciting events this March: on Saturday, March 3rd , M+/ Design Trust research fellow Thomas Daniell will be presenting his project "Unbuilt Macau" which examines unrealized proposals for reclaimed land in Macau. The project provides an instructive comparison with the built reality today, and suggests possible future directions in urban design.
On Monday 19th of March, DESIGN TRUST FUTURES STUDIO is pleased to present the "Future of Micro-parks", a public lecture featuring internationally renowned architect Richard Hassell, co-founder of WOHA, in dialogue with Hong Kong-based architects and sustainability experts. During the lecture, Hassell will explore the relationship between architecture, urbanism and micro-parks, and how we can improve the quality of life within high density environments.
As part of the Art Basel Conversations this year, DESIGN TRUST Grant Recipient Het Nieuwe Instituut will be presenting their project "Automated Landscapes in the Pearl River Delta Region" that explores the incursion of artificial intelligence and automation in productive landscapes. Reflecting upon the emerging architectures of automated labour in Pearl River Delta (PRD), the project questions how these conditions of production impact the city.
In celebration of automation and the future of design, DESIGN TRUST will also be hosting an invitation-only cocktail party supported by Het Nieuwe Instiuut and the Consulate of the Netherlands, Guangzhou. Please see below for more details, save the date and stay in touch for our upcoming programmes. Happy Chinese New Year of the Dog!
